When Winning Too Fast
Kills Your Business

Brad Teasdale built Teaslec Energy Solutions over 13 years. At one point, the money was rolling in, the work was there, and everything looked great from the outside. So he bought a house, started renovating, and spent like it would last forever. No buffers. No forecasting. No plan for what happens when it stops.

Then COVID hit. Two builders went under. And everything came apart at once.

He rebuilt from scratch, including selling the family home, and spent the next three years fighting his way back. By the time we connected, he was close to walking away entirely.

In this episode, I sit down with Brad and Chelsea Briggs from Profit by Numbers to talk about what actually kills trade businesses. Not the slow patches. Not the bad months. The dangerous period when you're winning fast, the ego gets ahead of the numbers, and you mistake revenue for success.

Here's what we cover
  • Why a 40 to 50% quote conversion rate still isn't enough if you don't know your margins
  • The difference between revenue and profit, and why most tradies only ever talk about one of them
  • What Brad did differently in the 12 months that turned his business around
  • Why the business owner is almost always the best salesperson, and why that's also a ceiling
  • The moment I nearly walked off a job in 2010 that would have cost me everything
  • Why getting the staff you deserve is not an insult. It's a mirror

If your revenue is up but you're still not getting ahead, this one is for you.
